Message from the Directors of Sports & Activities– Eddie Cross

The fall season commences on Monday, August 31, with the Upper School Fall Season Try Outs. There are varsity and junior varsity girls and boys teams in soccer, volleyball and cross country.  Students are encouraged to attend the try outs of their choice.  Although it is only possible to participate in one TASIS team during the season students may wish to try out for different sports. The try outs are also open to eighth grade students, and they take place Monday through Wednesday next week.  There are also auditions for the Middle and Upper School fall productions on Monday and Tuesday next week.  Upper School students who elect not to try out for a fall season team sport or audition for the fall theatre production have received an email with a link to the sport/activity sign up process.  They will then follow the sign up procedure on line selecting their choice of fall trimester sport/activity by Friday, August 29.  The fall trimester of sports/activities for Upper School commences on Monday, September 7.

Thank you to the Middle School families who have submitted their sport/activity sign up forms on line, the fall trimester commences on Monday, September 7, and Tuesday, September 8.  The Middle School team sports are also soccer. volleyball and cross country.  There are no cuts, and the students will be included in the team sport of their choice.  Students who elect not to participate in team sports have a choice of recreational sports and activities, including the very popular Middle School fall theatre production.

The Lower School activities program for students in grades 2, 3 & 4 will commence on Monday, September 7.  Lower School students will receive information on their club assignments via email.

The Lower School Intramural Soccer Program for grades FH-8 and Tennis for grades PrK-8 commences on Saturday, September 5 on Gymnasium Field 2 on the North Campus.  The Intramural Sports Program is separate from the school's sports/activities programs.  There is a small registration fee for the participants, and the program takes place on a Saturday throughout the school year. If you have any questions please contact Sharon Hudgens.

The hosting of visiting athletes is an important part of the sports program at TASIS.  Thanks to the kind hospitality of the many TASIS families who provide accommodation for these visitors, the TASIS teams also enjoy travel opportunities to weekend competition and I.S.S.T. Tournaments throughout Europe.  This fall we are scheduled to host St John's International School in September, Zurich International School in October and the ISST Girls Soccer Division I Tournament in November. We will be sending out more information once teams have been selected.
