Greg is Minister-Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada in London, a position he assumed in August 2014. Prior to coming to London, Mr. Houlahan served for four years as Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada in Warsaw, Poland, including a seven month period as Chargé d’affaires (acting Ambassador). From 2006-2010, he served as Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner in Japan where he managed trade offices in Sapporo and Fukuoka along with a large commercial program at Canada’s embassy in Tokyo.

He previously held executive positions in both the Canadian agriculture and industry departments. From 2001 until 2005, he was Director, Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program, where he managed a multi-million dollar program to improve municipal infrastructure. Mr. Houlahan also worked extensively on policies and programs related to Canada’s ICT sector, principally as Director, Office of International Partnerships in the Information Highway Applications Branch.

A marketing and communications specialist, Mr. Houlahan served for seven years in the Canadian Tourism Commission and its predecessor, Tourism Canada, managing marketing programs for Canada, the Asia/Pacific and Europe. In 1993, he became the inaugural winner of the Jerry Keller Memorial Scholarship to attend the Executive Development in Tourism (EDIT) program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Mr. Houlahan spent his early career with the Government of Ontario, Canada where he served in progressively responsible positions in both the natural resources and tourism ministries following his graduation from Queen’s University.
