Music at TASIS
Music plays a vital role in the life of TASIS The American International School in England. The Music department faculty believes in an inclusive approach, which never compromises the pursuit of excellence.
All lower school students in grades Pre-K through 3 take music class twice each week, and fourth and fifth grade students have one music lesson and one choir rehearsal per week. Students in Middle School are offered a choice of choir, band or general music.
In the Upper School, students can select from a range of courses including Choir, Chamber Ensemble, Jazz Band, Introduction to Music Theory, and AP (Advanced Placement) Music Theory.
Regular performance opportunities include lower school assemblies, choral and instrumental concerts, recitals, seasonal performances, and jazz and rock band events. Ensembles gracing the stage include 3rd grade recorder groups, four school choirs, three middle school concert bands, Jazz Ensemble and the Chamber Ensemble.
The Department is supported by a dedicated team of fifteen instrumental and vocal specialists, teaching over 270 private music lessons each week. These visiting teachers contribute greatly to the musical life of the school. Instrumental students are offered the opportunity to take appropriate practical exams offered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
