Middle School Guide to Research
You will use research and writing every day throughout your educational career to understand what you are learning and to communicate what you know. This abbreviated guide will help you structure your approach to writing assignments and properly document your research.
The MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, by Joseph Gibaldi, is available in the Middle School Library and covers the topic of research and citation comprehensively. This web site is intended to address the most common problems you will face when quoting sources and creating a list of sources (bibliography). Please refer to the complete text of the MLA Handbook to resolve citation problems not included in this guide. Make sure you ask either your teacher or the librarian if you have any questions.
