Lauren Child, multi-award winning author and illustrator of more than 40 books, visited TASIS England on Friday, September 16. Her picture book and novel series include Charlie and Lola, Clarice Bean, and Ruby Redfort.
Ms. Child discussed her book characters and illustrations with lower and
middle school students. After reading snippets from Charlie and Lola and Ruby Redfort titles, she shared some of the secrets behind her elaborate designs.
Following the presentation, students had the chance to have their books signed and asked many insightful questions, including:
What inspired you to be an author?
Which is your favorite book and why?
Is it hard to come up with ideas for characters?
When did you first start writing?
Which is your favorite character and why?
How many books have you written and illustrated?
Which author and illustrator inspires you?
