Red Nose Day at TASIS England

TASIS England Lower School children raised more than £300 for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 2017. Since its launch in 1988, the biennial fundraiser has become a staple British event when people come together to raise awareness and funds for pressing issues both at home and abroad.

This year, all proceeds from Red Nose Day will go to five major causes, which include providing life-saving immunizations to children in Africa, raising awareness about mental health issues in the UK, and funding the National Domestic Violence Helpline. Anti-malarial drug production and distribution and fighting extreme poverty in Africa round out the five areas that will be targeted by the money raised.

“The children were very excited to support Comic Relief by buying red noses and donating a pound to wear red tops today. They can be very proud of the amount they raised,” said Head of Lower School Ms. Faasee. “It’s particularly appropriate that schoolchildren support Red Nose Day, as some of the funds will be used to help disadvantaged children in Africa get access to education.”
