Athletics
The sports components of the Sports/Activities Programs throughout the school at TASIS England have always emphasized participation. One of my main objectives as the Director of Sports/Activities is to ensure that our students, from Pre-K through to the 12th grade, are made aware of the sporting opportunities available to them and are motivated to become involved in the sport or activity of their choice. Encouraging students to participate in sports, irrespective of age, ability and experience is the central theme of athletics at TASIS England. When approximately fifty percent of our High School population are members of a varsity or junior varsity team in each of the three seasons over the course of a school year, I feel that the Sports/Activities Program is achieving an important objective.
The sports element of the program encompasses all divisions of the school. Students develop skills and are introduced to the various team and individual sports in a structured and safe learning environment. A competitive element is introduced gradually through the Lower and Middle School intramural programs, thus helping students to prepare for the increasing demands of the interscholastic program in the Upper School.
I believe young people should enjoy being involved in sport at whatever level is appropriate to their experience and talent. The competitive sports offered at TASIS England endeavour to be inclusive, to provide students with an enjoyable and rewarding learning experience which complements the excellence of the school's academic programs.
