Community and Service Learning
This spring,
TASIS will host the 3rd annual Community and Service Learning Conference,
welcoming students and teachers from schools around the world. The
three-day conference will take place from 25-27 March, and it will include
student-run workshops, special guest speakers, and hands-on service projects.
The theme of the conference is Water.
Beginning this
trimester, Mrs. Reinikainen and Dr. Norris-Atkins will run an after-school
activity to help plan the conference. This activity would provide
students with invaluable experience and is ideally suited to both CAS and CSP
students. The activity will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays after school
Film Club
For those
cinema enthusiasts, the Film Club is the place to be on those cold, nasty,
wintry afternoons. A myriad of films representing different genres will be
shown: mysteries, westerns, action films, foreign films, dramas, and love
stories. Students may also bring in their favorite films to view. Some discussion
will take place. Hence, come to watch brilliant films, have a snack, and enjoy
the company of other cinema fans!
Math Club
Competitive
Math at TASIS will refine your problem solving ability in every major
discipline within the world of mathematics. You will practice strategies
to solve questions quickly, as well as enhance your ability to interpret
questions from different perspectives thus expanding your options by which you
can solve novel problems. The techniques and concepts that you will master
are perfect mastering the SAT or the SAT subject tests.
Yearbook Activity
The yearbook is an after school activity
that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and works in conjunction with the yearbook
class. Participants are expected to share in the planning, designing,
photography, interviewing, and editing that goes into completing the upper
school yearbook. The activity does require that you attend some school
events outside of the activity times. The yearbook staff would love to
have people committed to working on the yearbook for the first two trimesters.
It's hard work but lots of fun.
